Femi Aborisade (Esq)
Position: Managing Partner
Femi Aborisade has degrees in law and business studies, among other qualifications. He is qualified as a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. He is the Managing Partner of ABOPE Chambers.
Femi represents several clients in the public and private sectors. He has practiced across the states in Nigeria, and has been retained as an expert in several industrial and labour relations workshops organized by governments, legislators, employers, trade unions, non-governmental organizations, as well as international Non-Governmental Organisations within Nigeria and internationally. His services have been engaged in key sectors of the economy, including the banking and insurance, oil and gas, and food, beverage and tobacco industries, among others. Formerly, he worked as the Education Officer of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in the early 1980s.
Femi has also worked as a lecturer and a researcher. He was a Head of Department and a Senior Principal Lecturer, Business Administration and Management Studies, the Polytechnic, Ibadan, Oyo State. He taught for about two decades before retiring into full-time legal practice. In addition, he is a member of the Senegal-based Council for the Development of Economic and Social Research in Africa, and was a Research Fellow of the Centre for Civil Society, School of Development Studies, University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban, South Africa. Aborisade has authored over 110 publications, including books, chapters in books, research reports, papers published in academic journals, and papers presented at conferences. Femi has earned over nine (9) Fellowships and academic distinctions, attended numerous conferences and workshops in eight (8) countries, in Europe and Africa, apart from Nigeria, either as a resource person or participant.
Femi Aborisade’s scholarly works, interviews and commentaries on issues of public interest were mentioned on Google website about 11,200 as at January 2024. He is widely cited in scholarly publications (92 citations, including 6 in h-index, and 5 in i10-index).
Femi also has an outstanding record of service. He is a leading human and labour rights figure. His incarceration under the military was instrumental to the formation of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR). He has extensive linkage with a wide range of industries and their trade unions, as well as the entire trade union movement, particularly the central labour organizations, the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress.
Femi is also a Governing Board member of “Women Arise”, an organization led by Dr. Joe-Okei Odumakin, the recipient of American Government Award of “Woman of Courage”; Editorial Board member, International Workers Assisting Workers (ILAW) Network and Governing Board member, ILAW Network.
